Meeting Baby Jacqueline

Today I visited Arian, Donn, and beautiful baby Jac! I can't believe how tiny she was.
Not even seven pounds yet (Yep- that is like half the size of Lucky). I must say I was a little nervous holding her, but she just snuggled and slept. Normally when I hold little babies I am terrified their tiny heads might roll off. However, Arian said I could practice with her little girl anytime. I better get comfy since our precious girl will be here soon!

A Night Out (while we still can!)

Saturday night Jason and I went downtown for Stacy and Jeff's wedding. It was awesome! Their reception was at the W hotel and I must say that I was a big fan of the buffet-style food. Very trendy and tasty (the mini-burgers and onion rings were my fave) Of course a glass of wine with dinner would have been nice- (only 5 months to go!)

Week 20- We're Having A Girl!

Wow! You guessed it. (So much for my maternal instincts) Our ultrasound technician told us we are having a little GIRL. We both could not be more excited! Bring on the girly, pink accessories.
Our little baby was very comfortable in one position and was not willing to pose for many photos. Thus, we have the creepiest looking ultrasound picture. (Yep, that is just her face staring at you! No body.... just a floating alien head. he he. I think she looks like Jason)
I have to say- (this being my first ultrasound)- it was pretty fascinating.
They could see everything. Her little hands, legs, even kidneys. I think it feels more real to both of us now.
Now I should mention, according to the baby books you can't be 100% sure your baby is a girl (I mean it could be hiding its male parts) However, our ultrasound tech said she was pretty certain. What a shock that would be if our she was born a he!

Our Little Hotdog

Lucky models his new Halloween costume.....

(I guess it's a good thing we are going to have a

REAL baby to dress up soon)

Homecoming Weekend

This weekend was Homecoming at Benedictine University where Jason works. On Saturday we went to the big game and on Sunday we attended an alumni brunch and saw the musical Jersey Boys. (I loved it! I think Jason was a little sad he missed a good Bear's game though)

Tomorrow we go for our first ultrasound..... stay tuned to find out if Baby Leppin is a boy or girl!

Baby Bichsel Was Born!

News Flash:
My dear friend Arian's baby girl was born last night!
Jacqueline Ann Bichsel was born at 9:51 pm.
She weighed 6lbs and 12oz. Poor mommy Arian was
laboring for a long time. I will be sure to ask lots of
questions - and take notes.

Week 19- Mom Freaks Out

In baby news;
This week I had my first "nervous mom", over-reaction experience.
I was having pain in my lower abdomen for a few days so I called
the doctor's office for some much needed reassurance. Turns out my doc
couldn't see me so they sent me to the hospital! This completely freaked
me out. Luckily my sis Mandy was able to come with me. All of my worries came spilling out (Why does my stomach look lopsided? How come I'm not feeling the baby move more? Is my stomach big enough yet?) and I think nurses thought I was
a little crazy. They monitored the baby's heart beat, did a little exam, gave me some cran-apple juice and sent me on my way. Apparently, the pain in my abdomen is "round ligament pain" aka. STRETCHING!
Well, our first ultrasound is next Wed. so I will have more news then.
In the meantime I am a tired, candy-craving machine!

Week 18 - Birthday Part 2

Katie (my best friend) and I share a birthday weekend. Today we
celebrated her 30th birthday with a party at the Blu Razz. We had food, music, and fun. I think her cake turned out super cute- and very "Katie".

Week 18- Happy Birthday to Me

Today was my birthday and I had to work but we are going to celebrate my 29th this weekend with family and friends. (Thanks J for the cute purse!)
Most excitingly, I think I may have felt the baby move a few times this week. It is hard to tell though- It was so soft and quick- sort of like a slight flutter. The first time was at school when the kids were watching the movie The Sandlot (see my little boy already likes baseball) and the second time was at home. He has been very quiet since then so maybe I imagined it?!
