Thanksgiving- Part II

Yep... more turkey, ham, mashed potato, green bean casserole, rolls and pie. I have heard that I am supposed to be eating for two - but this week I may have taken that too literally.
Today we celebrated Thanksgiving again with the Davis family.

It was a full house- mom, dad, Mandy, Zack, Uncle Terry, Aunt Lynn and Uncle David, both Grandpa's, three dogs and a partridge in a pear tree.
After dinner we played Wii. (I of course kicked butt again in bowling!- Too bad in real life my high score is a 59) Here are some pics from our fun day.

Thanksgiving with the Leppin's

We got to spend two nights in Dwight with Jason's family this week for Thanksgiving.
Aunt Debby, Aunt Belinda, and Uncle Bill were in town from Arkansas. We had not seen them since our wedding so it was nice to spend time together.
Baby Girl Leppin was very spoiled during this trip. She got cute new outfits, a diaper cake, a diaper bag, and a very special gift from her Grandma. Marsha gave her a "baby ring" that she had from her own childhood. It is very beautiful and a special keepsake for our daughter.

It's Christmas Time in the City...

Jason and I went to Chicago this weekend to see the lights, do some shopping, and go see Wicked. We had a great time and ate a ton! We were one of the 10 gazillion people who
lined Michigan Ave. for the Magnificent Mile Light Festival to get a glimpse of Mickey, the fireworks, and the parade. As fun as it all was- we agreed that in the future we might just watch the parade on channel 7.

Week 24- Growing...

The doc said I had only gained 5 pounds so far at my last appointment. I think I put on 5 or 10 more this weekend though. I am definitely noticing changes in my body now. My biggest pregnancy issue is not being able to sleep! It takes me forever to fall asleep. Then I wake up 14 times to go to the bathroom a night. My eyes pop open in the a.m. and I can't fall back asleep no matter how tired I am. Ughh... if only I could have a nice glass of red wine each night- I am sure it would help me sleep!

Week 24- Putting Together the Crib

Last weekend Aunt Mandy and Uncle Zack came over to help us put together the baby's crib. The room is finally starting to take shape!

Remembering Jackie

Today would have been my best friend Jackie's 29th birthday
and even though a few years have gone by I still miss her so much it hurts.
This weekend I was thinking a lot about how she always did things a little bit ahead of me.
Like she graduated college a semester earlier, and got her first "real" job before I did. She
bought her first house before I did and got engaged and married before I did. And there was always something comforting about that because I could count on her for the good advice.
What to do, what not to do...
And I know that if Jackie were with us today I would be calling her for pregnancy advice now because she would have already had at least two little ones running around. She would have been such an amazing mom. It saddens me to to think she won't have that chance. Just another reason I want to try to be a good mom. Because she won't get the chance to be. I am forever grateful for all the years I was blessed to have Jackie as my friend but I can't help but wish I had more.

Sweet Dreams

Sleeping is becoming a problem. I think it may be the acid/ heartburn/indigestion that is radiating through my body each night. Yuck. Anyway, I bought this pregnancy body pillow at Target last night. It is super long and can bend and curl around my whole body. Unfortunately, Lucky seems to think it is his new dog bed.He was in rare form last night. Once we kicked him off my pregnancy pillow he decided to perch himself on Jason's pillow instead. He looked very comfy there too.

Baby Leppin's Bedding

After lots of looking we finally decided on bedding for the nursery. (Okay- actually a few weeks ago I ordered a completely different bedding set, but when it arrived Jason and I both thought it was really ugly. So we returned that set and started looking again) So, here it is. Baby Leppin has a green room and we thought the colors of this bedding would look great with the dark furniture and wall color. Now we just need to set up the crib and start organizing the room.
P.S. Currently, Lucky is an only child and the nursery is his room- how do you think he will feel about being evicted?

Week 23- Pregnancy Mania

Well.... Tomorrow is week 23! Not much new has happened in the last few weeks. Our little girl is definitely moving now. There is no mistaking her kicks now. (She may grow up to be a Rockette)
Sleeping is starting to become a problem. Not because my belly is too huge yet (although it is certainly growing) but more because my mind just runs a mile a minute. I am having very bizarre dreams now. Last weekend my mom and I went shopping and bought a bunch of cute girly outfits- so now I am terrified that our little "she" is actually a "he". The ultrasound tech only said she was about 85% sure it was a girl you know. What a shock that will be. I suppose we'll have a lot of returning to do. The bad thing is that I don't think I am scheduled to have another ultrasound before she is born as long as things continue to go well. I suggested to Jason that maybe I could fake a complaint or complication in order to get another ultrasound to check the sex but he did not think this was a smart plan. He's so darn honest.

So, we have girly bedding (green and dark pink) and girly clothes... Maybe we'll just have a very sensitive son....

Kelly and Todd Get Hitched!

This weekend we had another wedding. Kelly and Todd got married in a beautiful ceremony and then reception at the Intercontinental Hotel. It was so cute to see all of the little ones at the wedding (1 jr. bridesmaid, 4 flower girls, and a ring bearer) Kudos to 4 of the seven girls in the wedding party who just recently had babies or were nursing- they were super moms! You are my heroes!
