With a New Year comes lots of new things. Isabel is ten months old today and really growing up. She has 8 teeth total (4 on top and 4 on bottom). She pulls up on everything and can move from one piece of furniture to another with ease.
She is becoming a pickier eater because she only wants to eat "big people" food (in other words she wants whatever we are having for dinner- no matter how kid
un-friendly it might be.) Her faves include spicy taco meat and stir fry. She spits her puree baby food at us and hates
anything she can't pick up in her own hands. This can be a challenge when trying to pack meals for daycare. At 9 months we were given the go-ahead stop giving her the nasty (yet oh so expensive)
Alimentum formula and to introduce dairy back into her diet. Now she eats yogurt and cheese and seems to like them both. The spitting up is really so much better than it was when she was an infant. I suppose she probably just grew out of it.
I had to include this picture because she is finally getting used to "pony". Remember she was not quite sure of him at first. I think they're bonding now....
One of the most exciting things that she has done in the last week or so is start saying "Mama..ma...ma..ma!" It is like music to my ears- so sweet. Since Jason and I were both home with her during the last two weeks she got quite attached to us and even a little clingy. Whining and crying for us when we left the room etc. We were worried about bringing her back to daycare- afraid it might be really hard for her to see us go. Ha! She waved goodbye and promptly got busy playing. I think that is a good thing though :)
This is little monkey bundled up for winter. She looks cute but it is very annoying to get her bundled up
every time we need to leave the house. Mostly because she fights it. And also because it is much harder to get her in her car seat with 27 layers on. Kind of makes you consider moving somewhere warmer....nah

Isabel's big beautiful smiles. She knows how much I LOVE taking pictures so she is always very cooperative. Really... you should see how she is when we go to get professional pics. I jump up and down and act like an idiot to try to get her to smile and she makes an expression just like this. Stubborn girl- where does she get that?

besties, Abbie Caldwell. The girls are only two weeks apart in age. We took them to Nick's pizza together for lunch over Winter Break and they had a good time. Bell even tried some pizza.
I just thought this was funny picture because Auntie Katie bought me a comfy track suit for Christmas and so Isabel and I were twins. (I know that in the future she will not be caught dead dressing in the same outfit as her mom so I'll take it now.)
Another lovely smile... but I like this picture because you can really see how much she has grown up. Such a big girl- and longer hair too
In just two months we will have a ONE YEAR OLD! Really? I guess in retrospect it really does go by fast. I resolve to try to enjoy every single moment because we won't have a baby much longer.
11 Month Update! Isabel keeps growing and changing. She is beautiful and smart and funny. And I'm not just saying that because I am her mom. She is really developing a little sense of humor. For example, she has figured out how to tickle people's feet. She gets quite a reaction when she sneaks up and tickles her dad's toes while he watches TV.
She has also learned to reach up for us when she wants to be picked up- pretty sweet. We usually can't resist.
She is independent thinking too... For instance, I used to be able to dress her up like a little Barbie doll and put her in all of my homemade flower headbands. She really hates them now.... take a look.............
"Get this thing off of me Mom!" You can imagine how long it took to get these pictures of her wearing them.
Well.... Isabel has been sick pretty much this entire month. First it was a cold and cough. Then she had another bout with stomach flu and diarrhea. And in between all of that she has been having random unrelated projectile vomiting. Of course, we have been dealing with her stomach issues since she was a tiny baby (reflux, dairy intolerance etc. ) The vomiting had picked up again though and the pediatrician thinks we should take her to a GI for some testing. Later this week she is going for some Xrays of her tummy.... We hope to get to the bottom of all of this. In the meantime it has made for some unhappy moments and a stressed mom and dad.
Getting dressed for church. Isabel finally started going to the nursery at church. She likes it and we like that we actually get to listen to the message for once.
Because of the weather and sickness we have been stuck inside a lot lately. I had the great idea to finger paint with Isabel last weekend to pass the time. I figured she would love it.
Uh....... no..... not so much..
actually she HATED it. Maybe it was the fact that I wouldn't let her eat the paint. Or maybe it was just that she didn't like being dirty.... but she screamed and cried. The tortured artist...
It lasted only about 5 minutes but she did manage to make a few masterpieces. I guess we'll save the craft projects for daycare.
Speaking of daycare..... Did you notice the bandage on our little angel's hand in the pic below? Well.... maybe you're wondering if the kid who she bit at daycare finally decided to retaliate? Nope..... Isabel actually bit HERSELF last week. Yes... you heard me correctly. She broke the skin! We thought we were in the clear because she hadn't bitten anyone else after the "incident". Until last week. Maybe she felt the "urge" but decided she didn't want to get in trouble again... who knows. Our pediatrician says it normal and that we should try not to make a big deal out of it because it will only encourage it. But really, how are you supposed to ignore a crazy baby who bites her own hand?
Jason and I have to laugh because otherwise we go a little crazy worrying about these things. The important thing is we all have each other though. I had to share this last pic because all of my most favorite things are right here (well except maybe a Diet Coke).
I love my monkey! She rarely lets me leave hats, bows, or headbands on her anymore. She rips them right off her head. We are gearing up for her monkey-themed first birthday party in March. How exciting!
