Our Last Weekend...

This weekend we enjoyed some time with friends and family. On Friday night my coworkers had a "going away" party for me at Kathy Rentas house. It was fun to see everyone. I am definitely going to miss my coworkers when I am on leave (work on the other hand....).
This weekend was also Jason's moms birthday. We met Bill, Marsha, and Aaron for dinner. Dinner was great and so was dessert. I figure I have about one more week of this "eating for two" thing before I have to give it up. I have thoroughly taken advantage of that aspect of pregnancy!

Ready to Be Done....

The end is near....
Next Thursday I am scheduled for my c-section. (Unless of course little Isabel does a flip between now and then). I am pretty nervous, but basically very ready to be done carrying the baby. I am not sleeping anymore and can't seem to get comfortable. At our last apt. we were told she was around 7 pounds and seems to be a healthy little one. We just pray everything goes well and can't wait to meet her. We'll keep you updated!

Isabel is Giving Mom and Dad A Run for Their Money...

Well, it has been a guessing game throughout most of my pregnancy..... Is Isabel upside down or right side up? At my 38 week visit my doctor decided we needed to find out for sure- so she scheduled me for another ultrasound. And guess what? Our darling daughter is butt down and very much breech. In fact, she was very comfortable during the ultrasound and could not be bothered to wake up or move. We actually have a picture of her yawning! (Like mother like daughter)
So, it is very likely that we will be scheduling a c-section. Maybe even as soon as next week. Yes... I 'm freaking out- More details to come...

The Cat Is Out of the Bag...

Well... Jason and I are NOT the best secret keepers. (Most of you already know that.) However, we did decide to keep our little girl's name a secret until her birthday. And we almost made it!
Unfortunately, Jason let the name slip to his coworkers, and then I let the name slip to my sister. Then when I found out Jason told some people I decided it would be okay to tell my best friend Katie. Then Jason accidentally let it slide to both his parents and we told my parents a few weeks ago on the way to the hockey game. Both our parents shared the name with their friends and coworkers.. so basically at this point 1/2 of the Illinois population knows the name so......

We are naming our little one Isabel Grace Leppin!

Not a family name, not any of the names that we had on our short list for most the pregancy, but beautiful nonetheless!
Jason actually picked this name out several months ago and at first I wasn't sure about it. Since then though it has grown on me. And now we think of her as our little Isabel. We can't wait for you all to meet her.

(Unless of course our Isabel is an IsaBOY!....)

4 Weeks Left...

With just a few short weeks left, I have such mixed feelings. Sometimes Jason and I feel like we can't wait even one more day. We want to meet our little girl now and we are definitely ready to be parents. On the other hand, we still have a list of things to-do a mile long and we haven't even taken our "newborn care" class yet. Neither of us have much experience with babies and we are looking forward to our tutorial on diaper changing, burping etc. Also, it will be weird not to be pregnant anymore. As uncomfortable as it can be at times, I have gotten used to it. I look down throughout the day and see my whole belly shift from side to side.... a pretty cool experience.

Dinner and Wii

Mandy and Zack invited us over today for a delicious ham dinner and afternoon of Guitar Hero.
(Of course I am always grateful when someone else cooks for me!) We had a great time and even though I have no rhythm I think I held my own. Jason is pretty good on guitar and drums.

Wolves Hockey Game

Last weekend we went to see the Chicago Wolves hockey team play at all All-State Arena.
My dad is the family's biggest hockey fan but I think he is hoping that our little girl will enjoy it too. That must be why he invited her to her first game (even though she is still in the womb!)

Week 36 (almost)...

Well... here we are at Week 35 1/2. This is the latest belly pic. (Don't mind the baby mess in the background. This is pretty much standard in our house right now.) Jason and I had a fundraising event for his work this weekend. It was nice to be able to borrow a maternity dress from my friend Arian. Between all of us girls we are starting quite a collection of cute preggers clothes.
Now for the update-
Okay, so far I think I have stayed pretty positive and upbeat during my pregnancy. (Maybe Jason would disagree) But really, I haven't had that much to complain about. No real morning sickness or other complications.. I hadn't even gained as much weight as I thought I would. BUT - today I am going to complain. Please skip the next part of this blog if you don't want to hear it. These are the top 5 reasons why I am ready to be done being pregnant.
1. Heartburn - constant indigestion and acid reflux. Whether I eat or don't eat.... no amount of doctor prescribed antacid can relieve it!
2. Lack of Sleep- Just can't get comfy or stay asleep for more than three or four hours at a time.
3. Frequent Trips to the Bathroom- nuff said
4. Back Pain- Random back and hip pain. Strikes at odd times- like walking down the hallway at school or strolling through the grocery store.
5. Worry- The worrying has kicked in now. Worrying about the birth. Worrying about bringing the baby home after the birth. Worrying about when the baby is in middle school. Ugh... there is a lot you can worry about if you let yourself. Also, as of last week our darling daughter STILL has not turned from her breech position. So it is looking more and more likely that I will be having a C-section birth. We just hope that she is happy and healthy when born. Keep us in your prayers!
